About Friends of Duchess Wood

Friends of Duchess Wood: A Local Charity

The local nature reserve (LNR) committee, which is an official council committee, assists in the development of the woods and has been around for a number of years. The LNR committee decided that the wood would benefit from an independent charitable organisation that would enable a wider and more active involvement of the local community.
Friends of Duchess Wood was set up in the summer of 2007 by members of the local community and achieved charitable status in Spring of 2008.
Friends of Duchess Wood executive committee are volunteers from Helensburgh.
